Alon Elon Musk got called out again, this time by a top ranking Ukranian official. Must be hard being the richest man in the world, who’s also probably a bond villain.

Elon Musk Called Out
@elonmusk, while you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand.
— Mykhailo Fedorov (@FedorovMykhailo) February 26, 2022
Elon Musk got called out earlier today by Mykailo Federov, the vice prime minister of Ukraine. Federov, who is also Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, is behind the country’s very progressive approach to cryptocurrency.
“@Elonmusk while you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand,” Federov tweeted at the Tesla and Space-X CEO without using a period in front of the name.
It was the kind of unprovoked @’ing that Musk gets a lot, and deservedly so. He likes to push “boundaries” on Twitter, so him catching some strays while doom scrolling is the least the internet could do to him.
As the hours passed without a response — Musk is a pretty dedicated Tweeter — people assumed he wasn’t going to get his hands dirty on this one. That or maybe some questionable funding sources were influencing him — I’ll just leave it that.

Though, he came through this time.

Starlink Activated
Ten hours after Federov’s tweet, Musk tweeted this:
Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) February 26, 2022
And then after an hour and a half after that the Ukranian government was able to authorize and certify the use of Starlink.
Special thanks to 🇺🇦 in the USA @OMarkarova for swift decisions related to authorization and certification that allowed us to activate the Starlink in Ukraine.

This is great news for the country seeing as how “Internet entrepreneur” Jeremy Padawer put it, “Ukraine people have access to the fastest satellite internet system ever created. Russia can not disable the Ukrainian internet access fully without cyber attacking foreign data centers.”
